Artist Info

There's something special about sharing an evening with a musician whose roots are right here in Manitoba. We're looking forward to welcoming Aren Teerhuis to After Hours for good food, live jazz, and a little time to settle in together.

Originally from Oakbank, Aren made his way to Brandon University to study jazz saxophone with Greg Gatien. He went on to earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music, continuing his studies with saxophonist Wayne De Silva and pianist Michael Cain. Brandon became home, and Aren has remained a familiar part of the musical life of Westman and Winnipeg, leading the Aren Teerhuis Group and joining fellow musicians in local ensembles.

His music has taken him farther afield, too. As a member of Michael Cain's SOLA, Aren toured the United States and recorded with the group, appearing on Cain's album Hoo Doo. Closer to home, he shares his love of music as a woodwind and jazz clinician, a private saxophone teacher, and through his teaching and outreach work at Brandon University's School of Music.

We're delighted to have Aren join us for an evening that brings those connections together around the table, with a freshly prepared dinner and music to make a winter night feel a little warmer.
